Comment on Crying Over Chicken Salad by Laura Bortnick

I like this turn of a phrase..."crying over chicken salad." It's most fitting because, although it's something basic and, well, "small potatoes," there's still clearly some meat to it. To me, it's a fitting metaphor for worries because there is substance to it, but nothing that we and the universe cannot handle. Sure, there's always the possibility that things could be a little messy but, in the end, it's really just your basic chicken salad. Make sure you follow common sense rules to keep it fresh, and always turn a mindful nose toward it so that you're aware of the first signs of something being rotten in the state of Denmark, and move forward to embrace the world. In my experience, life hasn't always been a picnic, but I do consider it a movable feast...I just need to remember to plan ahead for those condiments!

I have firsthand experience with the power of prayer. When I was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer fifteen years ago, prayer for me spread from one end of this country to the other. I've never had any doubt whatsoever that it was God and all those prayers that saved me.--

Robin, I love reading your posts because they always make me smile. I too, "flip my closet" in the Spring and again in the Fall. And, yes, even though I live in California now I still follow the Labor Day and Memorial Day "rules" my mother taught me when I was a girl living in the Midwest. I even have a hard time wearing a purse and shoes that are not the same color...horrors now days in the fashion world...too matchy, matchy! Anyhow, the other way I mark the changing of the seasons is to work in my garden!
